This project was more sculptural than architecture and was both technically and artistically challenging.
Inspiration has been sourced from nature, specifically the simple elegance and natural strength that can be seen in the slender neckline form of a swan.
This effortless elegance has been adapted, stylised and captured within the Japanese art of Origami. This art form of paper folding allows straight lines and crisp folds to create the required angle changes and directional shifts.
A simple principle provides not only a strong, efficient, elegant structure, but also ensures that the manufacturing processes remain relatively straightforward as the entire series of elements are based on flat planes and simple angles.
